Velo-City and Streetfilms

17/07/2010 I totally forgot and missed out on something great. As you can see on this StreetFilms film from Velo-City 2010 in Copenhagen, see below. This film is Copenhagen seen through North American eyes, as they say it took a long time in CPH to get there but they did. And we (yes even London) can do it but we do not have 30-40 years to get to the same place ... read more ...

World bicycle relief

09/07/2010 World bicycle relief is something that I can support and will. They are training people how to fix a bicycle in a place where there isn't a bicycle shop that can service your bicycle for 400 km. The bicycles they are building are simple, not light weight since they are build to take up to 100Kg. Using a bicycle riding a bicycle increases one's capacity to carry by 5 times. ... read more ...

25/02/2010 There had been some confusion about when the Bike Weeks when be in 2010. I think that bikeweek.org.uk have now set it in stone, 19-27 of June 2010. How to promote cycling

24/02/2010 Over on copenhagenize.com they have post about how other cities are promoting cycling. I totally agree with them that the way New York are "promoting" cycling in their ad Look, is just wrong and is very linked to car-centric fearmongering and this will NOT get more on their bikes. The others they list on copenhagenize are brilliant and will get people cycling for sure. Especially the one from the Hungarian Cyclists Federation, ... read more ...

New York New York

06/01/2010 I hope that I'm allowed a bit or artistic licensing from old blue eyes, and re-write his song New York, New York. "If they can make it there, Then we make it anywhere, It’s up to you - New York, New York." I know, I will not give up my day job :) Though what New York have done is amazing, if a car loving city like that can change ... read more ...

Beauty and the Bike

23/12/2009 Now this is a great project and a very uplifting short film, Beauty and the Bike. If they can get teenage girls to start to cycle again in Darlington, why not elsewhere here in the UK. They are right teenagers all over Europe use the bicycle to get around. When I grew up there was no chance in hell of getting a lift from my folks, on your bike son, was ... read more ...

Take the 2 mile bicycle challenge

19/12/2009 I fell over this article on Planet Green the other day, Take the 2 Mile Bicycle Challenge. Which states that 40 percent of everyday travel in the U.S. are trips of 2 miles or fewer, which got me thinking what about here in London. I live in SW6 and within a 5 miles radius I got, to name but a few, Hammersmith, Hyde Park, Paddington, Gunnersbury Park, Clapham Common, Westminster, Kew ... read more ...

12/12/2009 Today I read this article over on the Telegraph, Copenhagen climate conference Danes launch campaign to get the world cycling. I'm sorry but you are wrong it is not, there I have said ... read more ...

Self-Powered Laser For Safer Night Cycling

05/11/2009 This is a self powered laser light, the battery that is recharged via a dynamo and this is what it does ... The laser draws an ellipse of light that is sensitive to anything crossing the perimeter. If a car comes too close, the light becomes red and all the horns will go off – until the car moves away. As the article states you can't rely on "standard-fare reflectors that may ... read more ...
